weekly squeeze: my fitness pal
Everyone’s been telling us for years that if you want to lose weight you need to keep track of what you eat. I won’t bore you with all of the stats you’ve seen before, but it’s been proven that if you write down/keep track of what you eat each day, then you’ll lose more weight.
One method I’ve found easy, and actually fun, to keep track of my daily calorie intake is by using the “my fitness pal” application on my iPhone. It couldn’t be easier to keep track of your calories with this app as it already has thousands of food items nutritional information stored. From an apple to a meal at a restaurant, drinks, meat, vegetables, candy, snacks, they have it all! Just a few weeks ago, they added a bar code scanner to scan right from the box/can the nutritional information to your phone. Love it!
You can also log your workouts for the day and set goals based on how much weight you want to lose. Based on your current weight and your goal weight, my fitness pal will come up with daily calorie goals for you.
It’s a great tool at the end of the day to go back and see what you ate and where you may want to make some tweaks for the next day. I like to check in before dinner to see if I’ve already had my fill of carbs, protein, fat, etc for the day and then make a decision based on the numbers on what prepare for the evening.
Unlike a post it note or a journal, we’re never without our phones, so it’s easy to log your calories. And honestly, it’s fun!
Love the charts too that let you know just what you’ve put inside your body today and areas where you went over/under.
