oktoberfest, maryland style
Can’t make it to Germany? Who cares! You can bring Oktoberfest to your own backyard, and we can help. As you’ve learned about Katey and I this week, we love theme parties and could not pass up the chance to put one together that would make the Germans proud. If you’ve got a beer and bratwurst loving man in your life, like I do, then you know this is an uber special celebration. Tomorrow I will be turning our football tailgate into an oktoberfest bash with a few simple items. 1) Beer…lots 2) Beer soaked Bratwurst and other sausage varieties 3) Sauerkraut 4) Maybe a chicken dance or two. If I had enough beer steins I would bring those along too but sadly…I do not (instead we’ll be using my fabulous crab cups from Target). Oktoberfest typically lasts about 16 days with over 6 million liters of beer (all local Munich) being consumed…that’s pretty intense! No need to make it complicated, just grill up some meat and put some beverages on ice and you’re good to go. If you want to go a bit further you can always put on a Lederhosen!
Don’t have time to put any of these ideas in motion? Baltimore is getting ready to kick off Baltimore Beer Week October 6-16. It’s also not too late to head out to Germantown for their annual Oktoberfest event (today, Oct. 1).
Cheers!
