throw your own “best of” party!
In honor of this week’s Best of Washington Party (we’re so psyched to go, Washingtonian!), the lemon & lime team would like to suggest that you throw your own “Best of (Insert Your Hometown Here)” Party featuring food and drink from your area! Here are a few tips to make it something really special:
1. Make it a neighborhood event
This theme is the perfect pick for a block party – you could even do a “Best of Our Neighborhood” themed soiree featuring your neighbor’s culinary specialties! If you’d rather keep it city or town focused, invite your neighbors and friends and ask for their input on what makes your hometown great. It’s a great way to build community and see sides of your city you may not have reveled in before.
2. Decorate, decorate, decorate!
Even if you’re not spending much money on this party, find unique ways to incorporate your city’s most special features into the decor. From Baltimore? Add a little maritime flavor with nautical table toppers. Are you a Pitt lover (like Katey)? Some black and yellow elements will make the party shine. You might even name your dishes after your town’s landmarks!
3. Stop and appreciate
The whole point of a “Best of” party is to take the time to smell your city’s roses. Discover new things about your home while you plan out your menu, and don’t be afraid to be a tourist in your own city. Who knows – that might even be your favorite part of the process!
