Happy Preakness Day!
Forget Infield Fest! Celebrate Preakness in the comfort of your home with 50 of your closest friends! I must admit…my former roommates and I had our own makeshift Preakness party a few years ago, fit with a homemade hobby horse (see below) that we named “Ridiculous Marshall” (long story). The guy at the hardware store thought WE were the ridiculous ones but I think he was just jealous.
ANYWAY…what should you have at your Preaky Preaky Party? Let me help you with that!!
Black Eyed Susan – Sip on this, it’s the official drink of Preakness! Even Bethenny Frankel has a Skinny Girl version.
Black Eyed Susans…the flower! Place some around the party for festive decor. It’s even the Maryland State flower! Perfect.
Hats, Hats, and more Hats. Show those Brits we’ve got style too!
Food – That’s easy…crab cakes! Instead of crab cakes and football, today all Maryland does is crab cakes and horse racing! Not of a fan? When in doubt…make what you want and throw some Old Bay on it. Seriously. Ask any native Marylander and they will tell you to put it on anything from Mac & Cheese to Ice Cream (yikes).
Dessert – Try a themed cake like this one! A horseshoe decked out with black eyed susans!
